The Hulodini (Lepidoptera: Erebidae, Erebinae) of Papua Indonesia

Platyja cyanocraspis Hampson, 1922

 


Distribution

 

 

 

 

STATUS: Endemic in New Guinea, rather common. Very similar to the recently discovered P. subtracta, but it can externally be distinguished as follows: males of cyanocraspis have the reniform mark elongated (in subtracta small and round), females of cyanocraspis have two black dorsal spots on the forewing (in subtracta these are lacking). Furthermore the genitalia are very different.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Jayapura, Ninay Valley, Nomnagihé, Senopi, Upper Setekwa River, Ubrub, Utakwa River, Walmak. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.
