It is a variable species but there are some distinguishing characters. The black circular mark in the middle of the wing, the marbled forewing and in some forms orange or black dots (see left arrows) are distinct characters.
Distribution
STATUS: A common species which is widely distributed in New Guinea.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Anggi lakes, Bivak 39a (Star Mts Expedition 1959), Borme, Mt. Goliath, Lake Habbema, Mt. Kunupi, Langda, Mabilabol, Moanemani, Mokwam, Paniai, Pass Valley, Sibil, Walmak. Details in gazetteer.
