Thyas honesta (Hübner, 1806)
Distribution
STATUS: Widely distributed in the Indo-Australian region, but a rare species in Papua. The forewing colour may vary from dark brown to orange-brown. The species has its easternmost distribution in New Guinea and occurs here sympatrically with its closely allied sister species miniacea. In the forewings honesta differs from miniacea by the regular oblique border of the marginal field, while in miniacea this border is irregular. On the hindwings the black mark is more reduced than in miniacea, and not touching the hindmargin, while in miniacea this mark is more extended and touching the wing apex.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Ampas, Uskwar. Details in gazetteer.
EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Indo-Australia, from India to New Guinea.
