The Tigermoths (Erebidae, Arctiinae, Lithosiini) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Oeonosia cruda De Vos, 2012

[Oeonosia cruda De Vos, 2012] [holotype: Foja Mountains, Kab. Sarmi, in NCB-ZMAN]

endemic species!

Similar species

At first sight both species, Oeonosia cruda and O. longistriga, are similar but a more closer look reveals clear differences. First of all cruda is distinctly larger and its male antenna are with longer and more coarse pectination than in longistriga. The wing pattern of cruda is more diffuse and especially the darker brown-yellow hindwings (in longistriga pale yellow) are distinguishing characters.
