The Tigermoths (Erebidae, Arctiinae, Lithosiini) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Chrysoscota vagivitta (Walker, 1866)

[Lithosia vagivitta Walker, 1866] (holotype: Misool, in BMNH)

synonym:

Chrysoscota lacteiplaga Rothschild, 1912 (syntypes: Utakwa River, in BMNH)

Similar species

The four known Chrysoscota species occuring in Papua Indonesia are rather easy to distinguish. To make it more easy the right wings of all four species are depicted to compare. Notice the black thorax of albomaculata, while in the other species the head and collar are pale yellow.
