Note
Only one specimen is known from New Guinea. It was collected by R. Straatman in 1946 in Hollandia (now Jayapura). It is possible that this specimen was imported on a ship in the harbour of Hollandia but we will never know for sure.
Distribution
STATUS: Outside New Guinea a common species but in New Guinea only known by one record! Probably an introduced specimen by transport.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: A wide range, from the Mediterranean through the Orient to the Moluccas.
