Distribution
STATUS: A common species in the Moluccas, especially on Ambon and Seram. In Papua extremely rare, restricted to the West coast. Three subspecies are recognized: ssp. deipylus (Waigeo), ssp. efbensis (Misool) and ssp. aristartus (Karas Island and partly on the mainland nearby).
PAPUA LOCALITIES: Waigeo Island; Misool Island; Karas Island: Antalisa; New Guinea: mainland in the opposite of Karas Island. Details in gazetteer.
EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Moluccas.
