Distribution
STATUS: An endemic species in Papua Indonesia. Locally rather common. Represented with six recognized subspecies.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: ssp. waigeuensis: Waigeo Island; ssp. misoolana: Misool Island; ssp. dominici: New Guinea: Tamrau Mts.: Mt. Kwoka, Mt. Irau; ssp. misresiana: Arfak Mts.: Anggi Lakes, Bikela, Demaisi, Lake Gigi, Memti, Meni, Minyambow, Mt. Misresi; ssp. tithonus: Salawati Island, Sorong, Katimin, Klamono, Fakfak, Mt. Aigah, Berau Bay, Kamrau Bay, Yamur Lake, Wondiwoi Mts., Wasior, Djalan River, Wanggar River, Mimika, Timika, lower Utakwa River; ssp. cytherea: East Kobowre Mts., Enarotali, Lake Tigi, Tembagapura, Jayawijaya Mts.
