Distribution

STATUS: Widely distributed and common. It seems to have no preference for any altitude. Many taxa have been described for this species, by some recognized as subspecies, but the variation is so wide that this hardly can be justified.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Waigeo Island: Camp Nok; Biak Island; New Guinea: Abmisibil, Fakfak, Mt. Goliath (Gn. Yamin), Keerom, Langda, Mabilabol, Mapi (Asmat), Ninay Valley, Sabron Camp (Cyclops), Senggo, Sentani, Ubrub, Utakwa River, Walmak, Wandammen Peninsula. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Indo-Australia, from Sri Lanka to Queensland, Samoa and New Caledonia.

DATA SOURCES: BMNH, KSP, ZMAN. Literature: Holloway, 2003.
