Variation
The nomotypical subspecies has orange wingtips, but white wingtips occur and are quite common. More rare is the variety shown above with the forewing margin white.
Subspecies biakensis has no orange or white coloration on the forewing and has the hindwings with broader orange (see below).

Distribution
STATUS: The nomotypical subspecies is rather common but its distribution is not sufficiently studied yet. In Papua two subspecies occur: ssp. lincea (red dots) and ssp. biakensis (blue dots). Subspecies biakensis is rare.
