STATUS: Widely distributed in New Guinea, but rare. In Papua the species is represented by ssp. purpurascens.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Anggi Lakes (Arfak), Mt. Kunupi. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.
