Alcis semidiscata (Warren, 1906)
ocellata Warren, 1907 syn. nov.
Distribution
STATUS: Widely distributed in New Guinea, a common species. The species is variable in dark pattern and contrast of transverse lines. A distinct character is the white patch in the undulate submarginal line in the forewing and the oval stigma mark in the hindwing. There is confusion about the identity of Alcis ocellata Warren, 1907, which to our opinion is conspecificic with Cleora semidiscata (Warren, 1906). The wing pattern is identical, the male antennae are those typical for Alcis and not Cleora. Therefore we consider both taxa to be conspecific. Cleora semidiscata has (species) name priority.
