The Euteliinae (Lepidoptera: Stictopterinae) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Stictoptera esmeralda Holloway, 1976

Stictoptera esmeralda is more or less intermediate between columba and ferrifera. The basal field on the forewing is in esmeralda usually not contrasting pale with the rest of the wing as in columba and the ground colour is less greenish. Moreover, esmeralda is very variable which makes it sometimes hard to distinguish from ferrifera. The broken fringe line on the forewing is very fine, in ferrifera these are lunular and thicker, in columba these are dots. In the hindwing the hyaline center is small, sometimes almost filled by the extremely broad dark margin.
