The Euteliinae (Lepidoptera: Stictopterinae) of Papua Indonesia

by Rob de Vos

Lophoptera tripartita (Swinhoe, 1902)

Distribution

STATUS: Widely distributed in the Malayan region but less common than the similar Lophoptera brunnistis with which it is often confused. Lophoptera brunnistis is smaller and is without the oblique straight antemedian transverse line, while tripartita has a distinct oblique antemedian line. Probably more widely distributed in Papua than shown on the map.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Borme, Pass Valley, Oksibil (Mabilabol). Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Sundaland, Sulawesi, Buru, Papua New Guinea.

DATA SOURCES: BMNH, KSP, RMNH. Literature: Holloway (1985).
