The Euteliinae (Lepidoptera: Euteliidae) of Papua Indonesia
by Rob de Vos
Eutelia porphyrina (Warren, 1914)
costibrunnea (Warren, 1914) syn. nov.
Distribution
STATUS: Widely distributed in New Guinea to Fergusson Island. Warren (1914) considered Eleale porphyrina and E. costibrunnea to be different species but there is no significant difference between the two according their appearance. As long as there is no genital or DNA proof of any difference these two taxa are considered to be conspecific. Moreover, the paratype of porphyrina is almost of the same locality as the holotype of costibrunnea.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Upper Setekwa River, Utakwa River. Details in gazetteer.
EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea (Fergusson Island).
