Variation
This common species is very variable in intensity of the white wingpattern and brown ground colour. The brownish triangle shaped patch in the forewing apex and the conspicuous spot in the tornus are always present and characteristic.
Distribution
STATUS: A common species in New Guinea and some other islands. It is mostly found in mountainous areas.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Abmisibil, Ampas, Bilogai, Bog Camp (Foja Mts.), Demaisi, Jayapura, Keerom River, Mt Kunupi (Kobowre Mts), Kwerba, Langda, Mabilabol, Modio, Mokndoma, Mokwam, Pass Valley, Sibil, Timeepa, Walmak, Warkapi. Details in gazetteer.
