Stauropus pratti Bethune-Baker, 1904
In the Gunung Meja Reserve we spotted this caterpillar of Stauropus pratti which was breeded to confirm its identity.
Distribution
STATUS: Endemic in New Guinea. A rather common species. The species is easily distinguished from the other four Stauropus species by its smaller size, the shorter forewings and a conspicuous straight white transverse from dorsum towards the center of the forewing.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Ampas, Bilai, Dotir (Wandammen), Enarotali, Fakfak, Humboldt Bay, Jayapura, Gn. Meja (Manokwari), Nabire, Ngat Biep, Ninay Valley, Kokas, Mabilabol, Nomnagihé, Sabron Camp (Cyclops), Utakwa River, Walmak, Warkapi, Wasior (Wandammen), Werba. Details in gazetteer.
