Variation or subspecies?

Specimens from Biak have reduced white spots on the forewings. This seems a constant feature and it is therefore very tempting to consider the population from Biak as a subspecies.


Distribution

 

 

 

 

STATUS: A common species, widely distributed in New Guina.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Biak: Biak City; New Guinea: Abepura, Andai, Cyclopergat, Jayapura, Mabilabol, Manokwari, Maripi, Merauke, Miei (Wandammen), Sentani, Sorong, Tamrau, Timeepa, Wasior (Wandammen), Yaniruma (Upper Digul). Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Moluccas, Papua New Guinea, Australia.
