Variation

 

Oxycanus hecabe shows a wide range of variation and makes it therefore very difficult to distinguish it from other related species. The male genitalia (left figure) form the best characters for 100 % certainty.


Distribution

 

 

 

 

 

STATUS: A rather common species, but locally.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Araucaria Camp, Borme, Paniai, Pass Valley, Rattan Camp, Walmak. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.
