Variation
This species shows not much variation, only in the intensity of the pattern of ocelli on the forewing. Almost uniform brown coloured specimens occur. This, in combination with the typical brown coloured hindwings are quite diagnostic for the species. The male genitalia are depicted in the left figure.
Distribution
STATUS: Not a common species. Found in the Central Mountain Range in the Snow Mountains and West from the Baliem Valley.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Carstensz Peak, Lake Habbema, Letterbox Camp, Moss Forest Camp, Scree Valley Camp. Details in gazetteer.
