STATUS: This rare species is widely distributed, in the western part of New Guinea it is represented by ssp. subobsoleta, the nomotypical subspecies is found in Papua New Guinea.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Mt. Goliath, Mt. Kunupi, Mokwam, Pass Valley, Walmak. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Papua New Guinea.
