Distribution

 

 

 

 

 

STATUS: Widely distributed on New Guinea, mainly at moderate altitudes. It is one of the largest species in the genus which is very variable in colour and pattern. Some subspecies were described but these are not recognized here because of the variation and sympatric occurance of most forms.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: Waigeo Island; Misool Island; Yapen Island: Mambo; Roon Island; New Guinea: Base Camp Cyclops, (Utakwa River), Dorey (Manokwari), Fakfak, Humboldt Bay, Kloofbivak, Kwatizore, Langda, Momi (Arfak), Nomnagihé, Paramelesbivak, Prauwenbivak, Resibivak, Upper Setekwa River, Sorong, Utakwa River, Wai Sai River (Weyland Mts), Wangaar, Wendesi.
