Distribution
STATUS: Widely distributed in the Indo-Australian region. A very common species. A distinguishing character is the rounded termen of the forewing. Males are usually purplish black, females grey or brown with or without dark fascia, but the species is extremely variable and some very conspicuous patterned specimens exist.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: Roon Island: Yende; New Guinea: Abmisibil, Borme, Demaisi, Ifar, Lelambo, Mokwam, Pass Valley, Sibil, Walmak. Details in gazetteer.
EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: Indo-Australian region, from India to the Solomon Islands.
