The identity of backi Eitschberger, 2009 is not at all certain according to Ian Kitching and Willem Hogenes. Its status should be confirmed when more material becomes available. It might be conspecific with Macroglossum vacillans Walker, [1865]. For the time being it is accepted in this list.

STATUS: Only known by the female holotype.

PAPUA LOCALITIES: New Guinea: Mapia (Nabire District). Details in gazetteer.
