Variation

Distribution
STATUS: Common. It seems to prefer mountainous areas, although there are records from the lowland.
PAPUA LOCALITIES: Supiori: Nansfori; Biak: Biak, Bosnik; Waigeo; Misool; New Guinea: Abmisibil, Affi, Andai, Arbuejo (Tamrau Mts), Ati Ati Onin, Bilogai, Bokondini, Borme, Demaisi, Ifar, Jayapura, Fakfak, Foja Mts., Humboldt Bay, Kobakma, Langda, Lereh, Mabilabol, Manokwari, Manunggal (nr Abmisibil), Meja Reserve, Mokwam, Nabire, Okbibab (nr Abmisibil), Pass Valley, Senopi, Sentani, Sorong, Tamrau Utara, Timeepa, Waena, Walmak (Nipsan), Wamena, Werba. EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: With four subspecies it is distributed from the Moluccas (Ambon, Halmahera) to Woodlark Island, southeast from New Guinea.
