Distribution

 

 

 
 
 
STATUS: The species is restricted to New Guinea with three subspecies. Two are found in Papua only: ssp. controversus (red dots in the map) and ssp. electus (blue dots in the map).
PAPUA LOCALITIES: ssp. controversus: New Guinea: Birdshead Peninsula (most likely Manokwari or the Arfak).
ssp. electus: New Guinea: Etna Bay. Details in gazetteer.

EXTERNAL DISTRIBUTION: ssp. distinctus: Papua New Guinea (endemic); ssp. controversus: Papua New Guinea; ssp. electus: none.
